Built by the Marquises of Monferrato in the 12th century for defensive purposes, the castle has witnessed important historical events and has undergone several transformations over the centuries.
In the 15th century, the Marquis William VIII of Monferrato strengthened the walls and promoted the urban growth of the village of Favria. Later, in the 18th century, the property passed to the Solaro di Govone family, who transformed the medieval fortress into an elegant noble residence.
The current appearance, characterised by neo-Renaissance details, is the result of a renovation carried out in 1878 by the knight Giovanni Servais, who wanted to make the castle a symbol of prestige and elegance.
